Good Morning Y'all.
Once again, what a week. From seeing miracles, to wanting to throat
punch somebody. Safe to say that I'm happy we've moved on to another
week. Today we woke up early, caught a bus at 4:55 am and headed to
Taranto. We have a conference tomorrow morning at 10:30, and we will
be meeting our new mission president. President Pickerd arrived on
Tuesday morning and has taken over the reigns. President Waddoups will
surely be missed. I love that guy.
Sooooo...for starters I'll start off with what went wrong with my
Call home on Saturday. We started off the afternoon paying a visit to
a less active family because the wife has been in and out of the
hospital with some stomach problems. We visited with them for a little
while, and both the husband and the wife asked us for a priesthood
blessing. We gave them each a blessing and started the long walk to
our members house with wifi. I had planned to Call home at exactly 7,
and we got to her house about 15 minutes after 6. We got inside, I got
settled where I wanted to be and I asked her for the wifi password and
that is where everything went flying out of the window. I asked her
for the password, and she gave me what she thought was her password.
Well, it was not and neither was the 100 other passwords that she
suggested. For 30 minutes we tried to guess what her password could be
and we didn't ever figure it out. At about a quarter to 7, we decided
to head to the church (where I could get some wifi) so I could send an
email home saying that it wasn't going to work. As soon as I connected
to the wifi, I received a call from back home. I'm sorry if I came
across a little snappy, I wasn't having the best luck and wasn't the
happiest camper in the world. I was pretty bummed, but I'm glad that
we will have the chance to talk this Saturday. I'll be calling home at
10:30 in Elwood on Saturday morning. Let me know as soon as possible
if you are not going to be able to make it please and we will see if
we can work something out...But plan on Saturday at 10:30.
Our work is starting to pick up and we are finally starting to see
some things roll in our favor. It's been a work in progress, but
things are starting to come around. I gave a talk in church on Sunday
and I feel like it went pretty well. I feel like our relationships
with the members are continuing to get better, which is such a
blessing.
I don't have a lot of time today, so I apologize for this being so
short, we have a lot to take care of before out conference tomorrow
with President Pickerd. I love you all so much and please take real
good care. I pray for you and I love you. I'll see you on Saturday!!

Romans 8:35-39
We Received this exciting email on June 30th and wanted to share it as well!
To the Family of Elder Nessen;
Elder Nessen will be completing his mission 15 Nov 2016.
We are extremely grateful for the time we have been able to spend with your missionary as he has served the Lord and the people here in Italy. However, the time has come when we must look ahead and help you make plans for his return home.
If your missionary is planning to go to school soon after his return home, we ask that you take care of the enrollment process so that it will not be a distraction nor time consuming for him. Any questions regarding school and other plans should be done in your regular emails. If there are extenuating problems, you may call the office and we may be able to work them out.
The Church encourages missionaries to travel directly home from their missions. Any other travel is permitted only when the missionary is (1) accompanied by at least one of his parents or guardians and (2) the duration of travel is limited to not more than two weeks. We ask that you be sensitive to the desires of your missionary when making this decision. Many look forward to returning home with their MTC group and to the "traditional welcome home" experience of greeting their family at the airport.
If you decide to pick up your missionary here in Rome, your plans must be based on the release date established by the mission president. Parents are encouraged not to request a change in the date to accommodate other travel plans or commitments. Parents should advise the mission office as early as possible if they plan to pick up their missionaries.
Parents who wish to pick up their missionary need to arrange travel for themselves and their missionary. Church Travel will send a reimbursement check to the family in the amount the Church would have spent on the ticket for the missionary. The check will be sent one month before the missionary's release date. Parents are required to contact the mission secretary at 2016605@ldschurch.org to let her know they will pick up their missionary so Church Travel does not book the missionary's flight. If you do not contact the mission or choose to pick up your missionary after Church Travel has purchased your missionary's ticket, you might not be eligible for reimbursement if the ticket purchased by Church Travel is non-refundable. You will be responsible to absorb the penalty to cancel the ticket. You MUST email the mission secretary and tell her you will be picking up your missionary. When you have the return travel itinerary for your missionary you must also email this information along with a copy of the purchased ticket with the amount you paid and your current mailing address to Lisa Palazzolo.
Her email is: lisa palazzolo@ldschurch.org.
If you choose to pick your missionary up in Rome, we ask that you not make contact with him/her prior to the actual pickup time which is between 7:00 am and 8:00 am on Tuesday morning. Because we have a new group of missionaries arriving immediately following the pickup time, we need to have the departing missionaries picked up and safely entrusted to the care of their parents or guardians no later than 8:00am. This may require that you arrive in Rome the day before in order to facilitate this requirement.
***Whether you are picking up your missionary or not, we ask that you inform the mission office which AIRPORT you would like your missionary to fly home to. Please include the AIRPORT CODE. Please send your response to Sister Michelini at 2016605@ldschurch.org.***
Sister Pickerd and I would like to thank you for the support you have given us and your missionary. We ask that you help your missionary continue to work hard and stay focused in his missionary work. The last six months in the field often prove to be the most fruitful for our missionaries.
Best personal regards
