April 18th, 2016 // #16 of 2016 🍍

Hello Family and Friends,
I hope everyone is doing well back home in good ole Tremonton. I would
just like to say thank you for all of the love, support and prayers
that you send my way. In times of difficult I can literally feel the
prayers and the love of you pushing me forward. It's a pretty
incredible thing and I hope you know that I am truly grateful,
eternally grateful. I hear the weather back home has been a bit rainy
and windy, hopefully that changes around for everyone. Nothing is
better than some sunshine. Here the weather is pretty nice. It's been
pretty warm and real sunny outside. We have transfer calls coming up
this Saturday and to be honest I am a little anxious for the call.
I've been here in Mistretta since the end of September and these
people have grown on me. From Nino, mot the Portera Family. From Dr.
Enzo, to the Grocery Store Cashier lady. So many people honk at us
from their cars as we are walking down the street because we have so
many relationships with so many people, it feels like I'm walking down
a street in Utah sometimes. Not joking when I say this, I've probably
talked to every single person in this little town at least one time
and Mistretta has practically became my home. I wouldn't mind moving
to a new city, but I wouldn't mind staying either. Whatever happens, I
will be happy with and I'll do whatever is asked of me. I'll keep
everyone updated on what happens with the transfer call next week.
Well this week we had a good week, a slow week, but it was still good.
We had a few solid lessons with Dr. Enzo, Maria and even the Dentist
up here in Mistretta. I'll start off with the lesson we had with Dr.
Enzo. We met with Dr Enzo on Friday morning and had a lesson on
"Eternal Families". It went really well. We brought Pippo Portera
along with us to put the cherry on top. Anziano Dunn talked about his
family. Pippo talked about how important the temple is for him and his
family. I brought my own personal story to the table about a pretty
lady that we all lost 15 and a half years ago. It was a powerful
experience to be able to look right into the eyes of Dr. Enzo and let
him know that families are forever, that families being together
forever is the plan of our Father in Heaven. It was a shorter lesson
because we didn't have a lot of time, but it was a solid lesson and
I'm grateful that the spirit was there amongst us Friday morning. We
talked a little bit about the Temple we are building in Rome and about
the open house that we will have and Dr Enzo interrupted us by asking,
"When is the open house?" And then followed that up with his desire to
see it. He is changing lesson by lesson, day by day. The Spirit is
working on him and he can feel something different. I know he can. I
love Dr. Enzo. He is a pure and genuine fella.
Our lesson with Maria went well also. We decided to share a talk from
President Uchtdorf that he gave back in the October 2011 General
Conference titled, "You Matter To Him." (It's a powerful talk and if
you ever feel a bit down, insignificant or alone.... Please read this
talk) Maria has some serious self confidence issues, and feels that
she has basically tossed her life away. We listened to the talk and
had a pretty nice discussion afterwards. Pippo Portera was able to
bare his testimony on Gods love and how he was able to feel that
divine love through the study of scriptures and personal prayer.
Anziano Dunn told Maria that she is loved and loved by our Father in
Heaven and that she matters to us. The Spirit told me to let Maria
know that she is most definitely not alone. There are people praying
for her in Mistretta. They are people praying for her in Sicily. There
are people praying for her in all of Italy. There are people praying
for her in Tremonton, Utah. There are people praying for her in every
temple, in every church meeting and in countless of family prayers
that are offered around the world. There are Prophets and Apostles of
the Lord Jesus Christ who are praying for her. There are people on
both sides of the veil who are cheering her on and who are supporting
her day in and day out. In the closing prayer of the lesson she prayed
for the courage and the strength to make this difficult change. It was
pretty powerful to hear her pray for that courage. Good things will
come from Maria.
The Dentist. Well here in Mistretta there is an awesome dentist, and
he is seriously a champion of a dentist. I was kind of worried about
the Italian dentists, after that shot I received in an Italian
hospital....but the dentist was much better and to be honest it was
exactly like what it is in America. The Dentist is 42 years old, his
wife is 39 and they have a 9 year old boy. They are so warm with us
and we plan on meeting with them this weekend to start the lessons. We
are hoping for the best there. We are teaching some really intelligent
and genuine people at the moment. The Lord is surely blessing us and
the work up here in Mistretta. I feel like this place could blow up
any day now. We have so many potentials and relationships with solid
people here in the mountains and again I feel like it could blow up at
anytime. Things are well up here.
Kind of a weak email this week and I apologize for that. I hope you
all know how much I love you and how grateful I am for each of you.
The Church is true and we are so blessed to know what we know. There
is no sweeter doctrine, not a more powerful phrase and no greater
promise that Families can be together Forever. There is nothing I want
more than to spend forever in a perfect place with no more pain, no
more sorrow, no more guilt, no more trials and no more rough patches
with the ones who I love the most. I am grateful for a very loving and
merciful Father in Heaven. I'm grateful for His perfect Son. The
Bright and Morning Star as He has been called. He truly is our bright
and morning star. In any dark time that we have faced, that we are
currently facing or that we will face, I testify that no matter how
that the dark, pain and heartache may seem to last....that Jesus
Christ will truly be our bright and morning star. I know and testify
that He never has nor will He ever leave us unaided in our times of
darkness and pain. He is there. Yesterday, today and forever. He is
there. I'm grateful for Him.
Have a great week everyone. I love you all so much. I'll catch you all
next week. Have a good one and take care.
Be strong and always remember that He is there.
