October 19, 2015

Good Morning Everyone,

Here we are again and another week has passed. I hope everyone is
doing well and staying healthy. I hope you all had a good week last
week and I hope that you all will have another good week this week. We
had a good week up here in the mountains. Our members introduced us to
a few people and those people turned into investigators. We also had
Zone Conference last Thursday. We had a branch activity Saturday evening. We had a good week this last week and I'm excited to give you
a report on how it went.

Last Sunday, the 11th, Anziano Da Ponte and I had the sacrament
meeting assigned to us. We were asked to speak on Missionary Work with
Members. Anziano Da Ponte did a wonderful job helping the members
understand the things that they should share with people who have know
nothing about us "Mormons" and the things that are not essential for
others to know in order to be converted. He did an excellent job. I
decided to talk on how powerful it truly is when members and
missionaries work together. The meeting went well and the members were
excited. After the meeting every single member mentioned to either
Anziano Da Ponte or I someone they wanted to introduce us to.
Throughout last week we were able to meet some of these people and get
ourselves some new people to begin teaching. We are starting to get
the ball rolling just a little bit up here in Mistretta.

Last Monday Night, we had a Family Home Evening with one of the
families from our little branch. That being The Portera Family. The
Portera family is truly incredible. They are easily the strongest
family that I have met here in Italy and are basically famous among us
missionaries. The father was converted in 1987 and served a a mission.
Came home, got married in the temple and they had had three daughters.
The father was the first member in Mistretta and was the branch
president for 17 years ( until The Senior Couple got her last December
). They are the kindest, funniest, greatest people. They are
constantly inviting us over for dinner and begging us to eat with
them. I will send a picture of them home soon.

Every Friday we head down off of the mountain and we go to a members
house for a Family Home Evening. We always go to Sorella Battista's
home. I sent a picture of her home last week. Sorella Battista is
pretty incredible. She lived in Germany for 35 years and so she speaks
both German and Italian perfectly. She is the nicest little old lady
and makes the best food. She feeds us a really good meal, we have a
spiritual message and then we play UNO or something like that. It is a
pretty good time. Sorella Battista's home, is also the place where we
hold our Second Sacrament Meeting on Sunday evenings. She takes care
of her parents, who are 93 and 90 years old, and she also takes care
of her daughter who is down syndrome. Her husband left her right after
they had their last kid, so it has only ever been her. She is strong
and her testimony is powerful. I respect Sorella Battista. She is one
of those people that has truly made this world a better place and she
has done that out of love.

We have another member here in Mistretta whose name is Ninno. Ninno
has been a member for a long time, over 40 years I think. He used to
be a professional cook. Ninno is slowly going blind and has already
lost most of his vision, but that doesn't slow him down. He reads the
scriptures every day, says the most humble of prayers and has one
powerful testimony. Ninno shares the gospel with everyone that he
comes into contact with. He invited us over the other day to introduce
us to one of his neighbors that he has been working with. She
introduced us to Marina and we had a good lesson together. She is our
new investigator. We plan on returning to her house a few times this
week to begin the lessons with her. Hoping for the best there.

Once again, we have some really incredible members here in Mistretta.
As I said earlier we had a little branch activity Saturday evening. We
ate some food, had some fun and watched a movie together. Earlier in
the week, Anziano Da Ponte and I thought that the branch activity
would be a good opportunity for our members to do a little bit of
missionary work. We printed off our very own "Movie Tickets" and
delivered them to all of our members on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
We were expecting to have a few new faces at our activity, but
unfortunately we didn't see any new faces. We did get one less active
there, so that's a start! We didn't get exactly what we were expecting
or necessarily wanting, but one less active showed up and had a good
time...So I'm going to call it a success. Anziano Da Ponte and I were
the Popcorn Guys. We made a ton of Popcorn. I love Popcorn.

On Thursday, we had our Zone Conference for this transfer. I love Zone
Conferences and this one was rather powerful. Anziano Eric Mika is now
in my zone. If you do not know who Eric Mika is, I will fill you in
really fast. Eric Mika is 6'10" and will be in the NBA in a few years.
He was on the National Champion Lone Peak Basketball Team my junior
year in high school. He than when on to play his freshman year at BYU
and had a phenomenal freshman season. He had the option to head to the
NBA or the Mission Field. He chose the mission field. We have became
really good friends over the past few months. Eric Mika is one of the
most incredible people on this earth. He has the amazing ability to
make everyone around him feel important. It is impossible to be sad
around Anziano Eric Mika. We sat by each other during the conference
and were standing next to each other in the Zone Picture. We already
have double dates planned after we have finished our missions and he
is also putting a good name in for me at BYU with some of their
recruiters. I love Eric Mika. Remember that name, Eric Mika. He is one
incredible human being and will do incredible things on this earth. I
am lucky to know him and call him a friend of mine. At the zone
conference, we received different trainings on asking inspired
questions, how great "Role Plays" really are, and how powerful
planning can be. There were many things said that stuck out to me
individually. One thing that struck me during the training that our
mission president was giving at the time was this..."Do you think The
Lord would continue to put Missionaries in Mistretta if there wasn't
somebody there for you to find?" Now that was not said out loud, but
it was surely something that came to me through the power of the Holy
Ghost. I have learned that when we take a question to a Zone
Conference, a General Conference, a Sacrament Meeting or even a
Personal Scripture Study and if we search diligently and with an open
heart, we will always receive an answer to our question.

Sunday, yesterday, was pretty great. We had our Stake President
visiting our branch and he gave two powerful lessons on the importance
of the Sacrament and also who we need to be as members of the church.
He was pretty powerful and did a great job. The afternoon sacrament
meeting was good as well. We went out to Sorella Battista's house. We
sang some hymns, blessed and passed the sacrament and watched Elder
Hollands talk from this last conference. I love that talk and it
always brings a deeper feeling of gratitude for the extraordinary
individuals that we each call "Mom". Sorella Battista also prepared
her famous "Chocolate Cake." Her chocolate cake is honestly the best
chocolate cake that I have ever had. It was so good, I took my iPad
out and took a picture of it. I also recorded my thoughts of gratitude
in my journal... I shall never forget that chocolate cake. IT WAS
SOOOO GOOD!!!

Well....That about is about it for this week. I would like to tell you
about the senior that I am serving with, The Wardles. The Wardles are
pretty incredible. They are from the Bluffdale area down by Salt Lake.
They went to Bingham High in the late 60's and he served here in Italy
back in the day. He was a general contractor and so we talk quite a
bit about building. One of their sons is the founder, creator, and
owner of "Dub Nutrition". So that's pretty cool. He sang in The Mormon
Tabernacle Choir and she is an amazing piano player. They have
actually been to my home town metropolis, Howell Valley. People that
they know from the Tremonton Area are Jimmy Summers and Bishop Wright
from Howell. When they said Jimmy Summers I got pretty excited because
Jimmy is a hero of mine. I guess that while Elder Wardle was the
bishop down in the Salt Lake area, Bishop Wright was his 1st
Counselor. It's a small world.

This week I wish to speak on a few scriptures that I came across this
last week. These scriptures are found in John 21.

3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We
also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship
immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the
disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship,
and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to
draw it for the multitude of fishes.
7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the
Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his
fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into
the sea.

Sometimes in this life we seem to be doing the best we can, but like
the disciples in these scriptures our nets turn up empty. Often times
when our nets are coming up with nothing inside Christ reaches out to
assist, but are we always humble enough to accept His divine
assistance? He is the Master Fisherman, He has fished these waters
before. He has experienced the currents, dealt with the tide, handled
the waves, and truly He knows how to catch more fish then there is
room in the nets. I pray that we will all have not only the strength,
but as well as the courage and faith to completely yield ourselves
over to Him. As it promises in D&C 45:62..."Great things await" for
those who put every sliver of their trust in The Lord. Family and
Friends let us shed our pride, our fears and our weaknesses and like
Simon Peter in verse 7, let us dive head first and swim as hard as we
can towards the Savior and Redeemer of the World.  The wonderful thing
about all of this is that, Heavenly Father and His Son take us as we
are — but they can also turn us into persons and beings that we never
thought were possible. They take us places that we could never reach
on our own. They know our full and eternal potential, but They are the
only ones that can get us there. His ways are eternal. His ways lead
to everlasting joy and happiness. Our ways are "lacking, limited, and
inferior to the way of Jesus Christ." My invite this week is this....
To put all of the Trust that you have in The Lord. My invite this week
is to dive off of the worldly ship that is full of things that we are
unable to take with us after this life is said and done, and begin
searching for those things that we can take with us after this life is
said and done. "Set your affection on things above, not on things on
the earth." (Colossians 3:2) As the Lord said in D&C
18:45..."Wherefore, the blessings which I give unto you are above all
things." I testify that the blessings that He can give us will bring
us more happiness not only in the life to come, but also in this life
right here and right now. There is comfort in knowing that when we
turn ourselves completely over to Him, that truly "It will all work
out." I know that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Loving God. He
loves us and that love is absolutely perfect. He offers us more
happiness and joy that we as mortals can imagine, but in order to
receive all that He hath....We must do our part and trust in Him. In
closing I stand with the famous author C.S Lewis when he said..."There
are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind." Family and
Friends, God doesn't merely want something from us, He simply wants
us. Let us all yield our hearts to Him.

I hope you all have a great week. I thank you for everything that you
do for me. For the love, the prayers and the support. You all stay
healthy and stay happy. I will talk to you all next week. I love you
all!!

Peace be the Journey,
Anziano JarDee Nessen

One last quote from President Hinckley because I feel it applies....
"You will come to know that what appears today to be a sacrifice with
prove instead to be  the Greatest Investment that you will ever make."

I love you!

10 Months Down

Buongiorno a tutti. I love you all.

How y'all doing? I hope and pray everyone is doing well. I hope that
school is going well for everyone. I hope work is treating everyone
right. I hope you are all happy and healthy. Let me know if I can do
something for someone specific. I know that I over 8,000 miles away
and cannot do much physically...but spiritually I can help out. I can
always include more people in my prayers. If there is someone in mind,
please let me know. We hit the double digits on Saturday. I can't
believe I've already been out 10 months, sometimes it seems like I've
been gone forever but most of the time it feels as if I just barely
left. 10 months down!! Unfortunately, this week there is not much to
report...So here we go!

Mistretta. Mistretta is a good little town. It reminds me a lot of
Howell Valley to be honest. Tractors (which aren't even in comparison
to the tractors in Howell Valley but they will do for now) drive up
and down the roads. I've seen a few people on horseback. There are
herds of sheep, farms all around, and friendly people. In fact, the
other day we were walking through town and I got a smell of animal
feed. I stopped dead in my tracts and took a few deep breaths. As we
got closer I looked into a building and saw a grinder surrounded by
mounds of corn, soybeans, oats and wheat. Probably the best thing I've
smelt in over 10 months. The people here are friendly. As we are
walking down the road and the cars are passing by, I like to wave.
Here the people wave back. It is a good little place and I really
enjoy it up here in the mountains. Things are safe here. It is
peaceful, calm and quiet. The weather is much cooler up here in the
mountains. We have been receiving a lot of moisture and they say that
we will continue to receive. I found out this week that the elevation
of Mistretta sits around 3,500 feet. They say we will have snow come
December, so it sounds like I will be having a white Christmas.
Mistretta is a good little place.

This past week we knocked some doors, well a bunch of doors at that.
Out of the hundreds of people we came into contact with, one older
gentleman let us in immediately. He welcomed us in, sat us down and
started to talk with us like we had been friends for years. His name
is Dr. Enzo. We talked a little bit and we got to know each other a
little better. He is very kind and we plan on returning back to his
house in the near future to teach him a little bit about who we are.
He has a family and a few kids who are still living at home. Hopefully
something good will come from that. Dr. Enzo was the only one that let
us through his doorway, but we handed out loads of Pass-A-Long Cards.
We have to leave them with something. It does nothing if you walk away
empty handed. At least with a Pass-A-Long Card can look up our website
or give us a call on our cell phone. Knocking Doors is actually pretty
fun. Knocking Doors "is like a box of chocolates, you never know what
you're going to get" (Forest Gump). We received some pretty humorous
rejections this past week and I would like to share a few.

#1 - *Door Opens....."Hello. We are the missionaries of The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints...." *door slams shut.

#2 - Have you every seen this book before? ( As we are holding the
Book of Mormon up) The Response - "Sorry. I can't read."

We heard nearly everything in the book, but we will keep trying. We
know that people are ready and waiting for us to show up on their
door, we just have to find them. We have been hanging English Course
Posters all over the city. Mistretta is a small little place and we
have officially hung an English Course Poster in every restaurant,
coffee shop, shop in general, everything. You name it, it has one of
our English Course Posters hanging up in it. We have really worked to
"Re-Boot" our English course this past week, hopefully some students
will show up this week.

The Members here are pretty incredible. There may only be 10 of them,
but they are some of the strongest 10 I have ever met. Our first four
days here, we were fed four times. They loaded us up with food. They
were so excited to have missionaries back here. It was pretty nice to
be honest. Yesterday Anziano Da Ponte and I gave talks in Sacrament
Meeting. Our topic was on Missionary Work. Anziano Da Ponte spoke on a
talk from President Hinckley and I spoke on Warning our Neighbor as it
says in D&C 88:81. I felt our talks went really well. The members were
excited after sacrament and many of them told us about people that
they have been working with. We are really going to try and work with
the members this transfer. The best formula in missionary work is when
the members and missionaries work together.

Here in Mistretta we do two services on Sunday. We have the normal
three hour block on Sunday morning up here in Mistretta but we also do
a sacrament meeting at a members house in the evening. We have a nice
building here in Mistretta. It is small, but it is very tidy. For the
evening sacrament session we hold it, like I said, in a members home.
The reason we hold a second sacrament is because there are a few
members who live about 45 minutes from Mistretta and are very poor, so
they are unable to make the trip every Sunday. The members down there
are small in number, but just like the rest of the members in
Mistretta, they are strong. It was the first time that I have had a
real sacrament meeting in someone's living room. It was different, but
I liked it.

That about wraps up our week out here. I apologize for this email and
how boring it truly is. Next week I will update you all on a few of
our members here and also the senior couple. This week I would like to
talk about one of my favorite scriptures. That being D&C 18:10.

10 Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;

For me, it is humbling to think that compared to God, man is nothing;
yet we are everything to God. He will always love us. That love will
never fade away. I know that God loves us and I know that He always
will.

Everyone....I love you all. I hope everyone has an amazing week back
home. Be safe and take care. 10 months down! Il talk to you soon!

Love,
Anziano JarDee Nessen

October 5, 2015

Good Morning Everyone!!

Well here we are in October already and before we know it, I will be hitting my year mark. Time goes so fast. I am starting my 7th transfer in Italy today ( not including the transfer that I did at the Provo MTC ). This week I will be sending a whole bunch of pictures. I hope everyone is doing well back home. I hope that everyone is healthy and happy. I love you all. I am grateful for each of you.

First off I would like to talk a little bit about one sweet grandma of mine that returned to her heavenly home a few weeks ago. Grandma Frank was one incredible lady. She was kind. She was nice. She was loving. She was happy. I remember her always having a little baggy of gummy-bears for all of us grandkids and her always talking to me about how my sports were going. She was always caring about others and thinking of others long before she would worry about herself. She lived a beautiful life of 101 years and effected everyone that she came into contact with; that effect always being positive. She will surely be missed, but she has passed onto the next phase of The Plan of Happiness. Now she is with grandpa again. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to know Grandma Frank and especially to be able to call her grandma. I will certainly miss her hugs and those gummy-bears....but we will all see her again. The Plan of Salvation is truly so beautiful. Death is not the end, it is simply part of the plan.

This past week was a crazy one with my companion heading home and me preparing to leave Napoli. We had about 3 billion things to do and about 42 seconds to do them all. It was one of the wildest, most stressful, hardest, funnest, most exciting, and fastest weeks of my mission. Monday Morning we dropped Anziano Lazarte off at the train station and sent him off to Rome. After Anziano Lazarte headed out, I stayed with the Zone Leaders here in Napoli until I left for Sicily Thursday morning. I took them to all of Anziano Lazarte's and I's investigators, so we would not loose anyone that we have been working with. We had a TON of lessons and got a TON of work done. We had a good three days together. The Zone Leaders ( Anziano Nomellini and Anziano Flynn ) and I are like brothers. They are good guys and great missionaries. I am grateful for them and look up to them a lot. They will take good care of Napoli. I have decided that Napoli will be the first place I return to when I come back to Italy to visit.

As I said earlier, I took the Zone Leaders around to all of my investigators so we would not lose anyone that we have been working with. I was fortunate enough to have a final lesson which each of my investigators and pass them on over to the Zone Leaders. The lessons went great and we taught surprising well for being in a Trio. Trio's are always awkward out here in the mission field. It is kind of like when you have two friends over at your house at the same time, someone always gets left out...but with us it didn't feel that way. I learned something during these lessons that I hadn't leaned yet out here in the mission field...That being a missionary that is leaving an area has a big opportunity to bare powerful testimony to the people that he or she loves. It is kind of our last chance, before leaving the area, to tell our investigators the things that we know to be true. I realized that most of these people, I will never see again in this life here upon the earth, and so I needed to leave them something powerful. My last lessons in Napoli I decided to not hold anything back. Sometimes as missionaries we hold back saying certain things because we do not want to offend these people we are teaching. This past week I learned that if we love these people, that we could never be too bold when baring testimony, because in the end we are trying to give them something that will bring them more happiness, peace and joy both in this life and the life that is yet to come. It was good to see all of my investigators in Napoli one last time. I was able to print off some pictures, write on the back of them and give them to all of the people that had an impact on me.

Last Tuesday Night, I had my last English course in Napoli. I became very close with most of the students who attended our English Course. People like Zio ( Uncle in Italian. His name is Alfredo, but we call him Uncle), Mario, Sergio, Rashmir, Carmella, Sabrina, Francesco and Anna, and more. These people became my family over here. We called all of the students Sunday evening and let them know that Tuesday would be my last time at English Course because I was getting transferred. Ever since last Saturday, when I received my transfer call, I was wondering what I could share as a spiritual thought at my last English course. Finally, about 5 minutes before it was time to do the spiritual thought, I decided to do my spiritual thought on the Book of Mormon. After all, that is the one thing that can bring more happiness and joy than we can possibly imagine if we allow it to do so. I bore testimony on how the Book of Mormon had changed my life and how it can change anyone's life who is willing to give it an honest shot. Right after I closed my spiritual thought I took the time to thank everyone for everything that they had done for me. In that moment it kind of hit me that I will most likely never see some of these people that had become lifelong friends again, and so I started to get teary eyed. Well to make a long story short, by the end of me saying my "Thank You"...All of those people I listed above were in tears along with me. When I closed my thought everyone stood up and started clapping. It was pretty strange to me, and I wasn't sure how to react...but it felt good, I'm not going to lie. Afterwards Zio and Mario both came to me and told me that whenever I return to Napoli that their homes are open to me and my family. Zio told me in secret that I was his favorite missionary of all time as tears were streaming down his cheeks. I love all of those students who attend English Course in Napoli. One day I earnestly hope and pray that I will be able to return and see these wonderful people yet again. It was a night that I will never forget.

Wednesday night came along which meant my last Fight Night with Francesco. Before heading over to his house I went and bought him a 10 inch Bruce Lee statue to place by all of his trophies. We got over there at 6:30 and started right away with the martial arts. At around 7:15 Anna came home from work. While the Zone Leaders were working with Francesco, Anna and I were sitting on a bench in his gym talking. In Francesco's gym, he has a ton of little birds. A lot like the bird from Dumb and Dumber. Every time I have ever gone over to their house I have always sat, watched and admired just how cool these birds really are. As Anna and I were talking she asked me if I could have pets on the mission. I replied with a no. She said that was to bad because they were going to give me the biggest and prettiest bird that they had. I would have taken that thing in a heartbeat if I could. We finished the martial arts lesson and started our spiritual thought. At the beginning Francesco told us that he had found a scripture that he loves. He found 2nd Nephi 25:29 which says....

"29 And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out."

I saw something in his eye and in his countenance that night that seemed to be a little but different. A week earlier he was telling us that he only believes in things that he can see, and this last week he eagerly showed us this wonderful scripture that talks about believing. The spirit in his living room was strong and we hadn't even said the opening prayer yet. We got started and began talking more about the Book of Mormon and the importance of this book. He agreed to continue to read and pray about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, but also with a sincere heart having real intent. We set another Bap. Date with him for the 14th of November. As we were closing the Zone Leaders bore their testimonies first, so I could finish up my last lesson with Francesco and Anna. I bore testimony with every fiber in my being about The Book of Mormon, Forever Families and Jesus Christ. Francesco and Anna began to get teary eyed and I did as well. I closed the lesson and they asked me to say the closing prayer. I believe that was the first time in a long time that I listened for what things to say, instead of saying the things that I wanted to say. We stood up to leave and I brought out the picture that I printed off and the little Bruce Lee statue and handed these things over to them. I gave them one last hug and walked out of their house one last time. Francesco and Anna never had kids. I am unsure if she was unable to bare children or what the case may be, but I feel that I kind of became their son in the 12 weeks that I was in Napoli. It hurt to walk away and say goodbye, but we will meet each other again, whether in this life or the next. They are incredible and I will continue to pray for them just as if they were still my investigators today. Francesco and Anna will be baptized one day. I know they will. It was my pleasure to be able to teach them and spend time with them.

Thursday morning came and my train left Napoli at 9:50 am. We got to the station at about 9:35 and I went over to purchase my ticket. I bought my ticket, turned around to where my suitcases were and to my surprise Francesco was standing right there beside my suitcases. I asked him..."What are you doing here?" He replied... "Nessen how could I not have come." We walked down to my train cart and walked a little bit slower than we usually do. He helped me load up my bags and gave me one last hug goodbye. The whistle blew and my train pulled out of the Napoli Station. I walked to my sit with a smile on my face and gratitude in my heart for the opportunity I had to serve the people of Napoli. This life if full of Goodbyes, but the truly remarkable thing about the gospel of Jesus Christ is that no Goodbye lasts forever.

My train landed in Palermo, a big city in Sicily, and right as my first train arrived at its destination, there were other missionaries grabbing my bags and helping me onto another train. I arrived in Palermo at 7:02 and the next train I got on left at 7:05. We were literally running across the tracks with my bags on our shoulders to get me on my second train in time. On the second train I met up with my new companion. Anziano Stefano Da Ponte. He is an Italian and is one transfer younger than me in the mission. He is a good guy and really kind. We will get along just fine and have fun together. We got to Mistretta at 9:30 pm and we were both pretty worn down from the long day of travel. Fortunately we have a Senior Couple here in Mistretta as well. They helped us find our apartment and had a good snack for us to eat. The Wardles. Elder and Sister Wardle. They are amazing. They come from the Salt Lake area and he served his mission here in Italy close to 50 years ago. Elder Wardle sang in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and has an amazing voice. Sister Wardle is an amazing cook and piano player. They are incredible. Senior Couples are the best.

Mistretta is beautiful. I love being up in the mountains. I will send more about Mistretta next week with pictures. We have a brand new apartment here, so that's nice. There used to be a car here in Mistretta, but it got taken out when they first shut down the area to missionary work. Mistretta is great. I am going to love it here.

I hope everyone had an opportunity to catch something from General Conference. It was pretty neat to see 3 new apostles called. There were many powerful talks including Elder Holland on Mothers, President Eyring on The Holy Ghost, President Nelson on The Women of The Church, A few from the 70 did an amazing job as well...But the one that I want to focus on is President Monson's talk from The Sunday Morning session. Near the end of his talk he was leaning over the pulpit and breathing harder and harder. It took every ounce of energy he had to give that talk. He could barely speak by the end, but he gave one of the most powerful talks of all time. He is truly a Man. He is our Prophet today. I pray that each of us can be a little bit more like President Monson. A little kinder. A little nicer. A little happier. A little stronger. Seeing him continue to fight just to give his talk gives me strength. If you have not seen his talk from The Sunday Morning Session, I would invite you to take 15 minutes and watch it.

This week I want to be shorter since this email has been a novel and a half, but I would like to talk about things that give us strength. Some of the things that give me strength are: #1 - The knowledge that Families can be Together Forever. #2 - The picture of Tyke that I use as my bookmark in my scriptures. #3 - Watching our Prophet fight and endure to the end of his conference talk even though he had to lean against the podium to do so. My invite this week into identity a small number of things that give us strength, that give us hope, that build us up, that give us the strength to push forward...So the next time we have a rough day or receive a trial of our faith, we will each have a few things that will give us strength to continue to fight and press forward. Let us always remember that we have a Father in Heaven who loves us perfectly. Let us always lean on Him and His Son in all things.

I love you all. Thank you all for everything. I hope you all have a great, safe week.

Peace be the Journey,
Anziano JarDee Nessen
